The Gollum and Chen Shui-bian, in their up moods

You've heard of "The Devil and Daniel Webster?" Well, meet "The Gollum and Chen Shui-bian."

Chen, in case you were weren't sure, is the creature in the suit.

The timely moral of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (The Fellowship of the Ring 2001, The Two Towers 2002, The Return of the King 2003, directed by Peter Jackson, written by J.R.R. Tolkien), is that lust for power transforms a human being into a monster.

"And the Ring passed out of all knowledge. until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer! The Ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels of the Misty Mountains. And there, it consumed him. The Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind. And in the gloom of Gollum's cave... It waited."
-- Galadriel, The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring
